UFC Vegas 20: Gane vs Rozenstruik Predictions
Source: Jeff Bottari/Zuffa LLC
We are one week out from another MASSIVE PPV and I for one cannot wait to sit back with a burrito and cola in hand and be thoroughly entertained. However, before we can get there we have yet another Heavyweight main event for this week's card. Just a week ago we saw Blaydes get flatlined and there is a very good chance something similar could end up happening tonight. FYI the Angela Hill card is scrapped, I'm bummed...PREDICTIONS!
Small note: From here on out I shall be highlighting my fellow Canadians in Red. So let's hope this gives Alexis Davis the strength of the maple leaf!
Ciryl Gane vs Jairzinho Rozenstruik
Gane has looked suuuuuuuuuper impressive since coming into the UFC, and the hype around this dude is well warranted. With that said, Rozenstruik is most def his toughest test to date. Bigi Boy is a complex and deceptively agile striker who has more than a few impressive performances under his own belt. The thing that really separates Gane from a lot of the other Heavy's at the moment is his ability to chain strikes together, but he's gotta be careful when going big tonight.
Gane looks, acts and feels like the next big thing in this division. The JDS fight was his coming out party, but with a win over Rozenstruik it would catapult him into contender status. WIth all this said, Gane gets hit, and gets hit a lot, he's still very raw and that could be his downfall against an experienced/dangerous guy like Rozenstruik, but I'm still going with the Frenchie.
Prediction: Ciryl Gane, 3RD RD TKO
Magomed Ankalaev vs Nikita Krylov
This is a very intriguing bout. Krylov has always been criminally underrated and his only losses in the last 3 years have come at the hands Glover and Jan, nothing to be ashamed of there. But with Ankalaev in front of him it feels like this steppingstone fight for the Dagestani gunner. Listen, I'm sure Krylov can visualize ways he can win, but as someone who is doing the predicting, I can't.
Krylov is very much a live horse in this one, but I would approach cautiously if you're betting against anyone from Dagestan.
Prediction: Magomed Ankalaev, Decision
Myra Bueno Silva vs Montana De La Rosa
Not much between these ladies. Silva seems to be the more dangerous of the two, but De La Rosa always puts up a good fight. De La Rosa is the popular pick, however I'll roll with the Brazilian.
Prediction: Myra Bueno Silva, Decision
Pedro Munhoz vs Jimmie Rivera
Ooof! What a unit of a fight this is! I mean, it's been what, 5-6 years since these two guys last fought? Back then it was a great fight and I expect the same this time around as well. The surprising thing is not much has changed stylistically for either guy, especially Munhoz, he's still a wild man in there so I think it'll play out much of the same way the first fight did. Strap in, because this is gonna be a good one.
Prediction: Jimmie Rivera, Razor-Thin Decision
Alex Caceres vs Kevin Croom
Admittedly, I underestimated Croom in his debut against Roberts, and even though he got popped for some devil's lettuce and that fight no longer counts, he's made a fan out of me. But he's fighting Bruce Leroy, and there's no chance I'm betting against that man!
Prediction: Alex Caceres, 2ND RD SUB
Rest of the Card
Hernandez def Moises
Davis def Mazo
Grishin def Jacoby
2021 Predictions Record: 28-18
